ThinkAnalyse makes a difference at Sydney Children’s Hospital

ThinkAnalyse has provided consulting with a difference at Sydney Children’s Hospital, by working with the Hospital to implement a play program for the children on the wards at weekends.

In taking the consulting assignment on a pro bono basis, ThinkAnalyse, a Business Analysis consultancy, helped to develop the program for Sydney Children’s Hospital based on a play program at Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children in the United Kingdom.

The program will initially place 30 of hospital’s new volunteers onto the wards at weekends providing arts and crafts and play activities based around different weekly play themes.

“This certainly has been a different assignment for us and definitely a whole lot of fun” said ThinkAnalyse Director Andrew Kendall. “Like any other consulting assignment, the work had to be scoped and planned prior to implementation, however working out what resources need to be applied for a ‘Pirates’ or ‘Under the Sea’ play theme made you smile as you worked”

“We are really excited about this Program” says Michelle Perrin, Manager of Recreation and Play Therapy at Sydney Children’s Hospital, “this provides great continuity for the children for our play services delivered during the week”.

From the first scoping meeting at the end of October 2009, ThinkAnalyse was able to deliver planning, funding proposals, organisational design as well as implementation. “By drawing on the right resources and the engagement of enthusiastic stakeholders, we have been able to deliver the program from concept to implementation in just over 6 months” said Andrew.

The first volunteers hit the wards on the 15th May, 2010.
